National Apprenticeship Week 2016Well, today is the final day of National Apprenticeship Week 2016 (NAW2016) but it isn’t the end of us continuing to support and help our apprentices!

We’ve had a great week celebrating our apprentices and the impact they have on our business.  Our final profile is on an apprentice who has already completed Levels 2 and 3 of his qualification, and is now continuing through to Level 4 and beyond!

Department: Accounts

Q). When did you begin your apprenticeship with Kings Security?
A). I have been a Kings for a little over 3 years.

Q). What qualification are you doing as part of your apprenticeship?
A). I am doing the AAT qualification in Accounting – I have already achieved Levels 2 & 3 and am currently completing Level 4.

Q). Why did you choose the apprenticeship route?
A). I chose the apprenticeship route as an alternative to going to university. I believed it made more sense for me personally to work in the relevant sector and gain experience and qualifications without incurring debt from student loans.

Q). What is it like working for Kings Security?
A). Working for Kings has been brilliant! The Kings business is forever growing and the people I work with have always been supportive and just generally fun to be around!

Q). What, in your opinion, does an apprenticeship with Kings offer to a young person?
A). An apprenticeship at Kings offers apprentices a career with progression opportunities. Kings put apprentices through all the relevant training they need and the experience of the job role that you will be qualified to do.

Q). How does work life differ to school life?
A). Although I am still studying, I now feel that what I am learning is a lot more relevant to my future. For example, I am no longer learning algebra which is something I haven’t used since leaving school, whereas I have been learning certain accounting formulas which I may use on a day-to-day basis.

Q). What are you career ambitions?
A). I would like to be a fully qualified chartered accountant. When I have finished my AAT studies, I will be a qualified accounts technician, so there is still more qualifications I must achieve after the AAT.

Q). Could you describe your day-to-day responsibilities?
A). My day-to-day responsibilities include lots of analysing of figures, mostly to do with business costs. I also maintain pre-payment schedules, inter-company invoicing & trial balances for the other branches of Kings.

Q). Can you describe yourself in three words?
A). Ambitious, Determined & Confident.
